Prof. Wang Shanquan received his master's degree at Beijing Normal University and then obtained his Ph.D. degree at the National University of Singapore in 2012. Since, he did his post-doc at the National University of Singapore in Singapore and the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign. Since joining Sun Yat sen University in 2016, his research interests mainly involve (I) halogenated pops microbial reduction and dehalogenation and pollution remediation, (II) anaerobic digestion and its microbiome and microorganisms, (Ⅲ) C-N-S-X (halogen) element cycle. Among them, the information on polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) dechlorinating strains and their functional genes obtained by him is a major breakthrough in this research field in the past 30 years.
