Associate Professor Katharina Richter is an enthusiastic biomedical scientist, entrepreneur, and medical innovator on a mission to outsmart superbugs and transform healthcare. With a background in pharmacy and a PhD in medicine/applied microbiology, she leads a research group at Adelaide University focused on real-world solutions to antibiotic resistance. Her innovations have already progressed to 3 clinical trials and 1 industry field trial, improving patient care and food safety. Katharina has lived and worked in 7 countries and collaborates with scientists, clinicians and industry to push research from bench to bedside. A passionate science communicator and mentor, she champions the next generation of STEM leaders through outreach, workshops, and public engagement.
