Dr Seviour is an Associate Professor and leader of the Biofilm Engineering and Sustainable Technology (BEST) Lab in the Department of Biological and Chemical Engineering at Aarhus University.  Dr Seviour aims to develop biofilm solutions through a fundamental understanding of the biofilm matrix, with a focus on several critical biofilm systems; chronic infections, activated sludge, and water filtration biofouling. Dr Seviour has led several landmark studies in biofilm biology, specifically regarding higher order nucleic acid structures in the matrix, is a key figure in raising the profile of extracellular polymeric substances (EPS), and is currently focused on addressing the identity crisis, and creating valorization pathways, for EPS from activated sludge.
