The main purpose of Dr. Wei Hu is to study the molecular mechanism of complex cell behavior in the process of biofilms formation.
1. Using soil bacterium Myxococcus xanthus as a model organism, we studied the molecular mechanism of extracellular macromolecular matrix construction and special cell behavior in the process of bacterial biofilm formation. Special attention as M The structure of xanthus biofilm is based on the basic composition and construction mechanism of extracellular matrix; social cell movement drives the construction of ordered cell aggregation and population spatial distribution in the process of biofilm formation; in this process, the function of extracellular polysaccharide and its interaction with other extracellular macromolecules; the correlation between cell predation process and biofilm construction.
2. To study the cell behavior and drug resistance mechanism of several pathogenic microorganisms (Acinetobacter baumannii, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Streptococcus mutans) during biofilm formation.
3. Cooperate with other scientific research institutions (West China Stomatological Hospital of Sichuan University, Stomatological Hospital of Peking University, School of pharmacy of Shandong University, UCLA School of Dentistry and Forsyth College of Harvard University) and enterprises (many domestic well-known listed enterprises) to develop bioactive secondary metabolites, anti biofilm drugs and active substances for microecological regulation.
